Cleansing brush head attachment |
I bought this device with high hopes of getting rid of my facial hair. As an Asian decent with very pale skin and dark hair, the facial hair on my face is (in my opinion) really prominent and unsightly. I have always been very self-conscious about my facial hair and having tried IPL laser, my hairs still remained on my face stubbornly. Therefore, I have come to realise that plucking my facial hair was the only viable solution to rid it, but it was a huge time waster and is a tedious task. Also my hair grows super quick, therefore it means I have to pluck regularly.
Since Braun is famous for their epilating devices, I was excited to try the Braun facial epilator device when I discovered it, hoping that it can speed up my facial hair plucking.
This is the world's first facial epilator and cleansing brush in one device and is battery powered. I haven't tried the cleansing brush head attachment since my sole reason for buying the device is for the epilating function, and so this review will concentrate on the epilator attachment.
Features and Benefits: Facial epilation:
- Up to 4 weeks of hair free skin. It has a Slim head for ultimate precision.
- It contains 10 micro-openings that helps capture the finest hairs, even hairs down to 0.02mm of width, and only 0.5mm of height.
- High frequency plucking - At 200 plucking movement per second and can give you a thoroughly smooth skin for up to 4 weeks in seconds.
- Easy to use.

After reading some positive reviews on the device, I decided to try it out with high hopes and I was thoroughly disappointed. http://www.braun.com/global/female-grooming/braun-face.html
The device does not effectively remove any facial hair. If your facial hair is short the device fails to pluck it, also even with the few rare hairs that are plucked it tends to grow back the same speed, so the claim that you remain up to 4 weeks of hair free skin is a lie.
Also, the longer hairs that have been plucked by this device develops into a bumpy red rash, a bit like the skin reaction you get sometimes after shaving, which looks terrible and takes 2 days to disappear.
The device also emits a strange smell from the epilator head when used for a couple of minutes which resembles a burning smell but is not too big of an issue I guess *shrugs*.
The device is not too loud when used, it sounds a bit like a quieter version of an electronic drill, but I do think that the reason why the device fails to pluck shorter hair is because it lacks the strength as it's not a very powerful device and I'm not surprised considering it's small size.
Design: The device's design is actually really sturdy and feels well-made, although it is a bit pricey (original retail price is= £69.99, but I bought it when it was reduced in price= £49.99 from Boots). The device is cute and is not bulky which fits perfectly in your hand. It has a left and right direction switch which allows epilating with ease on both sides of the face, but this function is kinda pointless and actually confuses things, I have trouble deciding whether you use the right switch for the right side of the face and vice versa, so I just stuck with the right switch for both sides of my face.
Yes or No?= It is a definite NO. The device does not do what it claims to do, so I would not recommend buying this for the epilating function, however, the facial brush function might be better, who knows, I have yet to try it out.
Performance rating: 2/10
Of course, the Braun facial epilator might work better for peach fuzz hair instead of my stubborn facial hair, who knows, have any of you tried the Braun Face epilator? YES or NO?
Feel Beautiful,
