Cleansing brush head attachment

I bought this device with high hopes of getting rid of my facial hair. As an Asian decent with very pale skin and dark hair, the facial hair on my face is (in my opinion) really prominent and unsightly. I have always been very self-conscious about my facial hair and having tried IPL laser, my hairs still remained on my face stubbornly. Therefore, I have come to realise that plucking my facial hair was the only viable solution to rid it, but it was a huge time waster and is a tedious task. Also my hair grows super quick, therefore it means I have to pluck regularly.

Since Braun is famous for their epilating devices, I was excited to try the Braun facial epilator device when I discovered it, hoping that it can speed up my facial hair plucking.

This is the world's first facial epilator and cleansing brush in one device and is battery powered. I haven't tried the cleansing brush head attachment since my sole reason for buying the device is for the epilating function, and so this review will concentrate on the epilator attachment.

Features and Benefits: Facial epilation:
  • Up to 4 weeks of hair free skin. It has a Slim head for ultimate precision.
  • It contains 10 micro-openings that helps capture the finest hairs, even hairs down to 0.02mm of width, and only 0.5mm of height.
  • High frequency plucking - At 200 plucking movement per second and can give you a thoroughly smooth skin for up to 4 weeks in seconds.
  • Easy to use.

For more information on the device, you can visit the Braun website:

After reading some positive reviews on the device, I decided to try it out with high hopes and I was thoroughly disappointed.

The device does not effectively remove any facial hair. If your facial hair is short the device fails to pluck it, also even with the few rare hairs that are plucked it tends to grow back the same speed, so the claim that you remain up to 4 weeks of hair free skin is a lie.

Also, the longer hairs that have been plucked by this device develops into a bumpy red rash, a bit like the skin reaction you get sometimes after shaving, which looks terrible and takes 2 days to disappear.

The device also emits a strange smell from the epilator head when used for a couple of minutes which resembles a burning smell but is not too big of an issue I guess *shrugs*.

The device is not too loud when used, it sounds a bit like a quieter version of an electronic drill, but I do think that the reason why the device fails to pluck shorter hair is because it lacks the strength as it's not a very powerful device and I'm not surprised considering it's small size.

Design: The device's design is actually really sturdy and feels well-made, although it is a bit pricey (original retail price is= £69.99, but I bought it when it was reduced in price= £49.99 from Boots). The device is cute and is not bulky which fits perfectly in your hand. It has a left and right direction switch which allows epilating with ease on both sides of the face, but this function is kinda pointless and actually confuses things, I have trouble deciding whether you use the right switch for the right side of the face and vice versa, so I just stuck with the right switch for both sides of my face.

Yes or No?= It is a definite NO. The device does not do what it claims to do, so I would not recommend buying this for the epilating function, however, the facial brush function might be better, who knows, I have yet to try it out.

Performance rating: 2/10

Of course, the Braun facial epilator might work better for peach fuzz hair instead of my stubborn facial hair, who knows, have any of you tried the Braun Face epilator? YES or NO?

Honest Reviews: Yes or No?: Clarisonic Mia 2.

Device: Clarisonic Mia 2 (I have the limited edition: Sun-washed peach colour)(Currently I use the delicate skin brush head on the lowest speed setting).

I'm sure most of the girl's out there have heard of the Clarisonic device, it is basically an electrical cleansing brush that supposedly cleans your skin more efficiently than using hands alone or other manual methods. Now, I'm not going to go too technical with this review, so if you want to find out about Clarisonic's technology and how it works, you can visit their website using the link below:

So let's start with a little history of my skin.......I am thankful that I don't have acne. I have very sensitive combination skin, so my skin is quite unpredictable at times, sometimes I have extremely dry flaky skin and other times I have godawful greasy, oily skin with ugly pores that screams for attention (especially when I wake up in the mornings). Usually my T-zone is oilier than other parts of the face.

I do break out now and again and quite a bit during that time of the month or when stress levels are overflowing, but other than that my skin is relatively clear most of the time with a few stubborn spot scars lurking here and there.

Reasons for buying the Clarisonic:
  1. To lighten spot scars.
  2. To allow makeup or skincare products to glide onto my skin better.
  3. To minimize the appearance of pores.
  4. To prevent further breakouts.
  5. To even out skin tone.

So, after testing the Clarisonic for 2 months I have my final impressions on it. *drum rolls please*
To be completely honest, I'm not loving it nor hating it, but I do think it is definitely overpriced and overrated. I have read hundreds of reviews complimenting the Clarisonic and how it changed their lives, but for me *looks at my face intently in the mirror* it didn't really change much. Is anyone out there on the same boat as me?

The Clarisonic did break me out and still breaks me out if I use it twice a day everyday. The motion of the device plus the brush head is too harsh for my sensitive skin.

Have my reasons for buying the Clarisonic been justified?:

1. The Clarisonic did not lighten my spot scars, so if anyone is looking to buy the Clarisonic in hopes of lightening their spot scars, I'd suggest to look for other options.

2. My makeup application and skin care products do seem to glide onto my skin like a wonder after using the Clarisonic, but after like a day, my skin is back to what it was unless I use the Clarisonic everyday, which is of course too harsh for my skin.

3. Moving on to the appearance of pores, it did make my skin feel super baby soft with some pores looking clearer, but this feeling doesn't last long.

4. Preventing breakouts? Nope, not for me. In fact, I broke out in spots on areas where I rarely get any spots for e.g. my cheek areas when I used the Clarisonic for 3 consecutive days.

5. Has it evened out my skin tone? A big fat NOPE again, my chin area still looks a little darker than the rest of my face, which is disappointing.

Nowadays I limit my use with the Clarisonic, using it only on mornings when I need to apply makeup and at the end of the week to deep cleanse my skin which is then followed by a face mask for better absorption.

Design:  I must say that the Clarisonic's device design is pretty sturdy and super cute and easy to use. Also, the battery life is unbelievably amazing, I have only charged it twice since purchase (so that's 2 months), but of course it depends on how often you use it. Also, the magnetic connecting charger feature is super cool.

To wrap it up, YES or NO?= Meh, this is a hard one, I actually debated with myself for over a year before plucking the courage to buy it, I researched and watched Youtube reviews, makeupgallery reviews and a ton of blogger reviews, after-all the device is very pricey *heart-ache*. Although the Clarisonic was not as 'WOW' as I hoped, it still does a decent job in helping my skincare products sink into my skin and my makeup application going on smoother and more flawlessly. But given it's price, I am a little disappointed with it's performance.

Performance Rating: 5/10

But of course, everyone's skin is different, so someone might have had better results from using the Clarisonic than me.

If you are still indecisive in whether or not to buy the Clarisonic, I'd say just buy it...... Clarisonic has a 90 day money back guarantee, so if you feel that the Clarisonic is doing no good, you could always return it and receive your money back, so what's there to lose?

Have you tried the Clarisonic? Let me know in the comments what you thought of it? YES or NO?
